Mold Testing

A thorough inspection by Basements.com involves a visual investigation of your entire home, from the attic to the crawlspace, for any stain discolorations or signs of moisture intrusion. Measurements are taken to determine moisture levels throughout the property. When possible, little or NO demolition is done during the inspection phase. All collected samples are sent overnight, processed and analyzed by an independent environmental laboratory. Mold Testing Lab sampling procedures are simple, safe, and effective in determining if toxic mold is affecting your home.

There are some techniques that are employed by other remediation contractors that simply cover up or “encapsulate” mold. This is a fancy way of saying that the existing mold is painted over. This technique is not only ineffective, but it is not accepted by the industry as a standard.

When advisable, mold sampling can be conducted for an additional fee. Our inspectors may utilize air sampling and/or swab sampling. Air sampling is a means to determine the type and amount of airborne contamination in an area. Air sampling may be necessary if the presence of mold, allergens or toxins is suspected, but not visible. Tape and/or swab samples are collected from visibly affected surfaces to determine the specific mold types.
