Radon Detection

Radon Detection

Radon is a colorless, odorless, and tasteless carcinogenic gas. When uranium in the soil naturally decays, the radioactive gas called radon is emitted. Radon enters your home through cracks in floors, walls, construction joints, or gaps around pipes, electrical wires and sump pits. Houses that have basements, crawl spaces or below grade living areas are at risk for radon gas presence. Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer and compromises your ability to breathe. Also if you choose to smoke, and you have radon in your home, you double the risk of lasting health issues.

Since radon is invisible, the only way to know whether you have a high level is to test for it. Radon gas is measured in & expressed in picocuries per liter of air (pCi/L). The EPA suggests that if the level of radon gas is 4.0pCi/L or higher, it falls within the danger zone. At this level, you should take precautions and install a radon mitigation system to bring the radon down to safe levels. We only employ highly qualified, certified radon technicians who have been through extensive training and continue further training while working with us.

At Basements.com, we strive to always use the BEST and safest radon detection methods possible. If for some reason you suspect that there is radon in your home, we can inspect the area of any signs and then discuss with you the appropriate measures to make your home safe. We offer radon testing to help determine the specific radon level(s).

Since radon is found in the soil gases beneath the house. In order to properly mitigate the levels, we must install a mitigation system/fan. Once installed properly, the gases are then exhausted up & outside of the home through the fan system. The radon fan collecting the soil gas from beneath the house also turns the sub slab space from a positive air pressure to a negative pressure. This also prevents the flow of radon into your house. Our fans are some of the best out there & have the longest life cycle on the market and are the quietest in the industry. They are virtually silent!

No radon mitigation system is complete without first conducting a comprehensive radon test to ensure the ultimate effectiveness of our radon mitigation system. When conducted thoroughly and meticulously, Basements.com will ensure you and your family to sleep well at night knowing you'll be safe.
